An insulated unit made with plate glass (annealed) is common in modern home and business windows.
An insulated unit made with tempered glass is commonly found in business entry doors, patio doors, oversized windows, and safety areas.
Single Strength Glass (SSB) or 1/16" is the thinnest glass available. Typically used in picture frames, and old windows
Double Strength Glass (DSB) or 1/8" is the next available thickness. Typically used in storm windows, single pane garage windows, lamp posts, and old windows.
Stronger than DSB but with less weight, the 1/4" glass thickness is commonly used on heavy-duty storm windows.
This glass thickness is perfect for indoor table tops, smaller shelves, and large windows. It is commonly used in slider windows (stylemarks)
"1/8" is the thinnest thickness of glass that can be tempered. This type of glass is typically used in smaller doors, mobile homes, and camper windows.
This thickness of tempered glass is typically used in patio tables, single pane storefronts or doors.
This thickness of tempered glass is best used for storefront glass, if it is not double pane. It is also ideal for patio tabletops, bartops, and sneezeguards for food service or public spaces.
1/4" laminated glass is another great option used for storefronts and doors. Like tempered glass laminated glass is considered safety glass, but when broken the glass sticks together.

If you are able to bring in your frame, we can cut a new piece of glass and install it back into the frame. Using silicone and putty. The whole process takes a couple days to complete, just depends on how busy the shop is.
Brining your window shash into the store would be a cheaper option then us going out to measure for a new window glass. We suggest that if you would like to go this route, come in before 11am and our shop-man will be able to get the measurement needed to order you a new piece of glass. The window glass take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to come in. Once the glass arrives in the shop, we give you a call to drop your frame off. Then your fixed window will be ready for pick up in about 1 hour.
